Sports aren’t the only thing offered by Centennial College Athletics and Recreation. For those looking for an activity with a little less impact but will still help get into shape there are many fitness classes including Yoga, Pilates and Zumba.

Also the talented members of the recreation staff have planned several trips and other activities for students. Take a look and see what your campus has to offer.

Class Listing

Basic Step
Basic step is a type of cardio exercise in which the person steps on and off of a platform at set intervals.

Boot Camp
A fitness boot camp is a type of group exercise class that mixes traditional calisthenics and body weight exercises with interval training and strength training.

Cardio Kickboxing
Cardio Kickboxing - a combination of aerobics, boxing, and martial arts -- is one of the most popular fitness trends to hit gymnasiums in recent years. These workouts, which are inspired by martial arts, have motivated many people to start a fitness program.

Hatha Yoga 
A slow and steady strength and flexibility practice meant to challenge the body and calm the mind. Expect longer holds, deeper breaths and options to make things more challenging or more gentle as you like. Hatha yoga is a kind of yoga focusing on physical and mental strength building exercises and postures and breathing techniques.

High Intensity Interval Training (H.I.I.T.)
Is an interval style class that challenges your heart lungs and muscular strength. Intervals can be Tabata style or 30/30/30 minute drills or a multiple of interval times. 

Lunch Time Express
Balance, Strength, Core, Agility and Endurance will be maximized in this 45 minute body sculpting class. This short and sweet workout will incorporate plenty of unique exercises to whip even the busiest of people into shape! All fitness levels welcome!

Pilates is a body conditioning routine that helps build flexibility and long, lean muscles, strength and endurance in the legs, abdominals, arms, hips and back.

An hour of fun, athletic, cardiovascular cycling class - the ultimate calories killer. Start pedaling and let go as the music takes you on the ride of your life along various terrains, speeds and intensities. Go at your own pace and enjoy a group exercise session full of motivation and sweat!!

Socacize™ promotes a fun way to exercise with a combination of dance moves, weight and strength training. SOCACIZE™ is a creative blend of high/low impact aerobics combined with African and Caribbean dance movements. The music used is calypso, soca, zouk, reggae, salsa, dancehall and on occasion drums.

Stretch-Pilates includes exercises that increase flexibility of the back, front-body, side-body, hamstrings and hips.

Tabata Circuit 
Tabata intervals are the shortest, and yet one of the most intense interval workout styles. A Tabata interval lasts only four minutes, with 20 seconds of intense activity alternated with 10 seconds of rest.

Tai Chi
Tai Chi is practiced as a relaxed, soft and slow flowing exercise. Apart from learning and memorizing the movements, the basic requirements for a beginner are proper body posture, relaxation of muscles and mind.

Combines Latin dancing with interval and resistance training for a full body rhythmic workout.

Yoga is a form of exercise that uses slow movements and stretching. It is good for increasing flexibility and balance; and to relieve stress and help you relax.

Yoga Flow
Yoga Flow - a challenging medium-fast paced class focused on strength and flexibility through movement and breath. Good for all levels, but can be as challenging as you choose to make it.

Yoga/Pilates Mix
Blending the calm of yoga and the focus of Pilates, this class will leave you feeling clear, and energized in body and mind. Expect a lot of on-the-mat core work and influences from both traditions.

Zumba Toning
It's a new and exciting part of the Zumba program incorporating regular weights to enhance rhythm and build strength while moving to exciting, motivating, zumba music.
