The Centennial Colts Women's Basketball team hits the road for the first time this season as they continue to search for their first win of the 2025–26 campaign. The young squad, filled with rookies, has faced a tough start against some of the OCAA East's best. After a close opening game against the Loyalist Lancers in their home opener, the Colts have battled hard against the Georgian Grizzlies and George Brown Huskies, two clubs expected to sit near the top of the division.
Under second-year Head Coach George Thomas, the Colts continue to build an athletic and physical identity. Thomas is known for favouring tough defensive teams that rely on constant effort and communication, and while this group is still learning to reach that level consistently, the foundation is clearly taking shape.
Tonight, the Colts visit the Seneca Sting at the King City Campus, a familiar rival that currently sits first in the East at 2-0 after convincing wins over Durham and St. Lawrence. The Sting have been led by Tianna Leveridge and Samantha Mendoza-Peers, who have been their primary scoring threats so far. Containing that duo will be key if Centennial hopes to break through.
Despite their 0-3 record, the Colts have looked better than the standings suggest. Led by captain Mikayala Simon-Tucker and promising rookies Dealijandra Gomes, Dajah Lennox, and Jaida Tingling, Centennial is hungry for a statement win. If they can stay disciplined defensively and play to their athletic strengths, this matchup could mark a turning point in their young season.
